Meet Scarlet, my amazingly beautiful rescue Physignathus cocincinus. When I met her, she was terribly sick and fading away. She also had two very bad hurt spots! Her face was torn open where her gums and teeth were exposed, her tail appeared to have been cut/chewed; there was only 3 inches of her tail left. Poor Scarlet was also battling pneumonia. I knew taking her in would be a great challenge but I couldn't just walk away after seeing her that way. She was so weak that I had to carefully feed her pureed foods through a medicine dispenser. Weeks later, she started to lift her head up on her own so I offered her a live cricket and she took it! It made me so happy, I remember that movement as if it just happened yesterday! After months of intensive care, she has shown great improvement and is now happy and healthy! Her face has healed leaving a scar (which is how we came up with her name Scarlet) and her tail is also healed but is still very short. She is sweet, gets excited about meal time, loves attention and is easily handled. I love her so much - she is a fighter, she is my sweet angel dressed in armor!
